Colours, bleeding. I felt them swirl about me, trapping me in their sly gaze.
I was pinned, they knew something about me, how could they have figured it out?
I tried to hide it, I grabbed at myself, tearing my still-beating heart from my chest.
"Here, take it!" I screamed at them, but they would not relent.
I was swept away in their dizzying depths, plunged under.
In a rare moment of clarity, I realized
I would never
surface
again.

this was for a school assignment, i wrote it last year.
it had to be open poetry with emphasis placed on the last words
using spacing.
i just found it on my old hard drive.

i always use emphasis with words
by using spacing.
i'd probably fail
every other poetry unit
of that class then
using different forms of emphasis
ex. bold, italics, spacing, dialogue, repeated thought
and to use one each unit
